Rock Janecek

Rock Janecek (b. 1982) holds degrees from Mt. San Jacinto College (AA Music,
2004) and California State University, San Bernardino as a double major,
graduating with Honors (Music Education, Music Composition, 2008),  where he
performed primarily with the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, the vocal Jazz
Group “Au Privave”, the Percussion Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band.  As a
composer, he has written music for chamber groups, solo singers, and concert
choir.  He currently performs weekly as worship pianist and singer at Spirit of
Hope Church in San Bernardino, California.

A performer and pedagogue, Rock spent a year in a teaching credential program
at California State University, San Bernardino and is currently building repertoire
towards a goal of auditioning for a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance.  
His many freelance appointments include engraving handwritten musical
manuscripts, performing liturgical settings of a mass as a church pianist (outside
of Spirit of Hope), and as a private teacher for Music STAR/Creative Brain
Learning, LLC (former Southern California Music Central).  Aside from appearing
at piano recitals, he performed most recently at a concert of new music at the
University of Redlands in October 2010.

Rock Janecek studied piano and composition with Dr. Larry McFatter and
currently studies piano with Dr. Alma Batista.  A member of Phi Kappa Phi, an
international honor society, and the California State University, San Bernardino
Alumni Association, he is an enthusiast of Central and Eastern European music,
and currently resides in San Bernardino, California.
