Teaching Experience

I am a classically trained concert pianist that enjoys teaching privately people of all levels
and ages.  I have a doctorate degree in piano performance from the University of California,
in Santa Barbara as well as a Master and Bachelor degrees from the Conservatory of Music
in San Francisco.  My experience includes performing as soloist and recitalist as well as
teaching for over 20 years from beginning up to college levels.

Some students come to my piano studio for different reasons.  Some want to make a
significant commitment to their studies, and with my extensive training and expertise I can
help them achieve their goals.  I have students that have participated in music festivals
around the United States and one even performed at Carnegie Hall in New York.  Others
come for enrichment; to bring music into their lives in the most meaningful of ways, by
making music themselves.

I also have experience teaching students with physical and learning disabilities such as
autism, blindness, dislexia, and hyperactivity.

Whether you are a new music student or resuming your studies, training for a professional
career or simply seeking to enrich your life, my piano studio welcomes you to the joys of
making music.

I am currently teaching private piano lessons and musicianship courses
(open to my current students only).

"The successful teacher is one who can be flexible and adjust to the needs of the
individual student.  Alma certainly was very capable in that regard.  As a teacher, and
pianist, she was always very musical and thoughtful." Stephen R. Shapiro, Ph.D.
Executive Director of Community Music Center in San Francisco

"Ms. Batista has earned an impeccable reputation as a teacher of precision and
authority.  She is without doubt one of the finest instructors our department had ever
had, and her experience as a teacher of Piano, Music Theory/Fundamentals of Music
and Music Appreciation has been outstanding."
